John grew up in a musical family, starting at age 6 with piano and guitar lessons. After a couple
of frustrating years, both teachers opted for early retirement. He managed to survive in the
musical world, eventually as a founding member of the Stony Creek Band (1973), then as a co-
founder of he Lake George Jazz Weekend (1984) in his role as Director at the Lake George
Arts Project. He serves as Secretary/Treasurer for the Southern Adirondack Musicians Fund.
