Our Mission
The Southern Adirondack Musicians Fund is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing emergency financial assistance to musicians and their families who are facing serious health issues, injuries and death. A volunteer and locally oriented charity (serving Saratoga, Washington and Warren Counties of New York, the S.A.M. Fund’s mission is to keep the “wolf from the door” for those in need. Our area is richer by far because of the incredible number of talented musicians and artists who make their home here.
In the spring of 2001, the ADK region lost a truly gifted player and friend. Those who were band mates tried hard to funnel what money they could to help his family through this difficult time. It was not a lot of money but it came with lots of love and the sentiment of "We see you-We feel you-We got you ". Not long after, John Kribs gathered some fellow regional musicians and the Southern Adirondack Musicians Fund was formed. Members of the S.A.M. Fund wanted to be there when the next need arose. Needs, they do arise. If the S.A.M. fund were a house, it might not look very big but its foundation is made of love and can carry the weight. ‘Come on up to the House, we’ve got you.’
